Figline Valdarno is a typical, lively Italian town, full of
tradition and history. This small town is situated in the lower
region of the beautiful Arno valley, in the heart of Tuscany.
Away from the hustle and bustle of the larger towns and cities
full of tourists, many famous film stars and musicians come to
relax and spend their holidays in this area. Don't be surprised
if, during the summer, you should meet Sting, Madonna, Dustin
Hoffman or Bruce Springsteen in the main square of Figline.
Figline is a perfect base for visiting the nearby Tuscan cities,
such as Florence, Siena and Arezzo, renowned for their art and
culture. The surrounding area offers something for every kind of
person - if you are interested in art and culture you can visit
the nearby towns and cities, if you love nature or sport you can
enjoy walking and cycling in the breathtaking countryside, if
you love good food and wine you can visit vineyards and sample
the local wines, famous all over the world, accompanied by
delicious snacks.

THE LANGUAGE SCHOOL AND OUR TEAM OF TEACHERS |
|
The small but modern language school of Figline offers both
children and adults the possibility to improve and perfect their
knowledge of the Italian language in pleasant surroundings and
in a relaxed atmosphere. Our teachers, all of whom are highly
qualified and have years of experience in teaching foreign
languages, are highly motivated and will work to provide you
with a diverse and enjoyable course programme which combines
communicative activities with the more traditional methods of
language teaching.
|
|
Small classes (max. 12 students) allow for intensive study.
The teaching programme offers 15 or 12 hours of lessons a week,
depending on the course selected (1 hour=60 minutes). Each unit
covers different linguistic aspects of the language. A
communicative approach is adopted, aiming to develop and improve
conversation skills and to broaden vocabulary using a variety of
interesting topics, exercises and articles, whereas the teaching
of grammar rules takes on a secondary, supportive role.
The
use of audio-visual materials and articles are carefully selected
according to the age group and the interests of each individual
group. Our modern teaching methods and communicative approach
allow each student to make visible signs of progress, even after
just one week of lessons.

Host families
Experiencing at first hand the daily life of the host family,
the student will get to know and love the content and laid back
Italian way of life. Besides this, living with a family offers
numerous opportunities to practise and use the language studied
at the language school immediately. The hearty welcome and
warmth you will receive from our host families is certainly a
motive for opting for this kind of accommodation.
Hotel / Campsite/ Holiday Village / Farm house
If you prefer to be more independent you can stay in a hotel, or
at a well-organised campsite/holiday village, or in one of the
converted farmhouses in the area. Each type of overnight
accommodation to sleep 2, 3 or 4 people includes breakfast and
evening meal.
We can also book modern, fully furnished apartments for 2-5
people, upon request.

|
Any stay in Tuscany to learn the Italian language should be
accompanied by visits to some of the countless artistic and
cultural sites of this region. All language courses include busy
excursion programmes to cater for the interests of all students -
those who are interested in culture as well as those who are more
interested in the language or sport.
The cultural excursion programme includes visits to some of the
most beautiful places in Tuscany: cultural centres such as Pisa,
Siena, San Gimignano and Arezzo, quaint medieval villages such as
Lucignano, Vinci and Colle Val d'Elsa, Etruscan towns such as
Volterra and Cortona, an excursion into the heart of the
production zone of Chianti Classico, the world-famous wine, or to
Lake Trasimeno. You will leave this places with unforgettable
memories.
For each type of course, there are two trips to Florence:
The standard programme includes a visit to the Uffizi Gallery and
Palazzo Vecchio, two of the monuments which should not be missed
when visiting Florence.
|
For sport lovers we also offer a course which allows you plenty
of time to do sporting activities. You can choose from among the
following: swimming, tennis, horse riding, volley ball, basket
ball, football. Students who opt for this type of course will be
guests at a local tourist village where you will be able to use
all the sporting facilities at no extra cost (except for tennis
and horse riding).
Each week there will also be the possibility to do an 8-hour
course of horse riding, tennis or mountain-bike.
|
|
The programme offers many activities for you to do in your free
time, such as cinema trips, evenings in Florence, karaoke and
visits to pubs.
